Today I have a question for the Universe.  And by "Universe" I really mean, "All three y'all who read my b-log."

I have a yarn (audience:  ::shock::  ::awe::)

    It is this:

It is by Chestnut Bay Fibers, about 430 delicious yards of a single-ply fingering weight.

With this yarn, I wish to make a beautiful shawl to wear in Minnesota (or, perhaps more accurately, in the car on the way to Minnesota - Jeff is notorious for keeping the AC blasting with no regard for my comfort level.  Harrumph!)

I'm considering several patterns.  They are:

"Heartland Lace Shawl" by Evelyn A. Clark  (photo credit SheepGeek).  I'm a bit shy on yardage but this looks like one where I can lose a repeat or two to no ill effect.

"Gail" by Jane Araujo (photo credit MaweLucky)

"Springtime Bandit" by Kate Gagnon (photo credit ZeitgeistYarns)

"Little Arrowhead shawl" by Pam Allen (photo credit EraLunaris).  I would be able to add several repeats to this one, if I choose it.

    And finally,

"Onerva", by Särmä  (Photo credit Saermae).  My only hesitation here is that I'll have to (with help from others who've made it) translate the pattern from Finnish, and that doesn't sound like a recipe for quick success.

So I'll put it to you all - which shawl pattern would be best for my beautiful purple variegated single-ply?

I won't tell you which one I'm leaning towards, because I don't want to bias the answers...

My vote is either Gale or Little Arrowhead Shawl (but I'm thinking I'm leaning more towards Gale...that'd be gorgeous!!!).

i vote for spring bandit or little arrowhead.

That yarn is beautiful! I put my vote towards "Gail"... I think your yarn would work best with that pattern. No matter which one you choose, make sure you post pictures!!! I love your picture posts with the comments.... lol. So funny!

Onerva. I like to be weird.

Springtime Bandit...it looks the warmest.  I think you should make a scarf next!

Thanks for your input, everyone!  Keep it comin'!

@ShamrockLover - Springtime Bandit *is* the warmest as pictured, because it's shown in a worsted weight (read: heavier) yarn.  The yarn I'll use is significantly thinner, so if I go with that pattern I'll end up with a smaller, lighter shawl than the one pictured.  (Knitting lesson of the day! )

My vote is for the springtime bandit. 2nd place goes to the heartland pattern.

OK, now I hurried up and didn't look at anyone else's answer, because I'll be influenced by the rest of the universe with each different answer. (You'd never want me on the jury-too wishy-washy)  and I opened up two windows with the yarn in one, and the different patterns in the other, and then scrolled and matched them side by side to get the right "feel" and then realized I'm not good at "is the name before the picture or under the picture?" so I'll tell you it was between #3 and #5, and still couldn't decide so I thought about flipping a coin, but realized what a huge decision you've entrusted me with and didn't want to let you down, (and so I grabbed the bag of chocolate covered peanuts for strength) and I studied some more, took a nap (dreamt about it) came back--and its #5.  yes. #5.  amen.  so do you still want me to help name your firstborn?

It HAZ to be Little Arrowhead shawl, just hazta be, coz that's where you are going, to the Arrowhead!  'member?  That last one looks like a Finnish rendition of a poncho, so "no".  Please, nothing to do with Bandits.  I will worry the whole time you are gone.  Don't talk to strangers.  Buy your own candy.  And seriously, haven't you already knitted those first two shawls a couple of times already?  Please do something a little bit different so that you don't look like a giant butterfly, okay?  I mean, you are a cute butterfly, gorgeous, really, but let's just do a different style of shawl this time, okay?  And if you don't like it, you can give it to me!

Little Arrowhead.  Love it.  I don't like the dips and curves at the ends of the others.  And finnish would be hard.

I love the yarn!  You have such good yarn taste!

As to patterns, I love Bandit.  I also like the Finnish shawl....It's funny reading the other recommendations, I am not at all attracted to the Gail or Arrowhead shawls!  We all have such different tastes!
