(see edit at bottom)
I have a new True Love.
There, I said it. I have found a new Farm Boy to my Buttercup, a new Shrek to my Fiona, a new reduced-fat blueberry coffee cake to my grande mocha light frappucino.
Love, thy name is Bridget.
Born Bridget.

Mom bought me these shoes a couple weeks ago, because I'm a total weenie. After only a week of heading back and forth between my desk and the copy machine, walking a few blocks to grab lunch, and spending hours on my feet sorting and filing, my feet were KILLING ME. All those cute work heels I bought? They each have a bit of the devil in them.
So my mom, being a mom, bought me some cute Born shoes.
These may be my first Born shoes, but they're definitely not my last. My newest hobby is browsing the Born
website and window-shopping which pair I'm going to buy next. I'm a TOTAL convert. Between Born, Birkenstocks, and Keens, I don't think I'll ever buy another pair of shoes at Payless ever again. I'm utterly in love.
Even though I could really use some new work clothes, I think shoes take priority--maybe even priority over yarn (yes, you read that right!) The only question is, which to buy next?

Any other Born addicts out there?PS>Please notice that many of these shoes would lend themselves well to being paired with hand-knitted socks. No coincidence!
::EDIT::
Uh-oh. I just got home from Marshall's, and look what happened:

(don't believe the photo--these are actually black)

I've never had shoes with that wrap-around-the-big-toe bit before, but these are surprisingy comfy--after all, it is a Born shoe with the fantastic footbed and soft soft soft leather!
Probably not a whole lot of chances to wear them this year, but I'm set for next summer!
Here's the sexiest shoe-modeling you'll ever see:

No, it doesn't get any better than chipped toenail polish and bleach-stained pyjama bottoms!
Oh, and did I mention *clearance*?

That's right, $25.00
But wait, there's more!

THESE are gorgeous and I love them and I want to have their babies. They're "BOC", a less expensive line by the Born company.
There's just one problem.

They're just a teensy weensy squitch too small. Not even a half size too small. More like a quarter size. In fact, I think some of the tightness may just be caused by them being new shoes, and not being broken in yet. After all, leather does stretch.

They're comfy, but not as comfy as I think they would be if they were just a size larger. (I also think some of the lack of "OMG footgasm" comfyness might be due to the less fancy-dancy footbed that these cheaper shoes have, as well.)
So I'm not quite sure what to do with this pair. I think tomorrow I may call other Marshalls stores here in St Louis and see if any of them have the shoe in the next size up.

And if not, I may just return these. Because as cute as they are, there's no point in having them if I'm not going to wear them.... or would I?
Oh, did I mention the price?

Can't beat that! Which, I'm not gonna lie, is a large part of the reason I didn't just leave these behind in the store.
Well, I think today's adventure has (temporarily) sated my appetite for new Born shoes, though I still maintain what I said above--as soon as I've got a bit more money, I'll be investing in a pair of winter/work Borns. I'm officially addicted

Sassy AND cute! I'll have to check them out.
Try www.retailmenot.com and put in zappos.com or shoeline.com and see what they have.
Damn you and your telling me about awesome shoes. Now I'm in love with a pair of 125 dollar boots.
born shoes are so freakin' comfy!!
i like the charisma ones..and the boots!!
@Sally_nichole - They'll be well worth every penny. I promise you. I'd have paid twice what I did for mine (the top ones). Really.
@dellqueen - WOW what a source! There are a TON for shoeline.com. Thanks so much for telling me about this!
Okay, you know that I know that you are the bargain queen. Sensei, you will be proud to know that I went to J.Crew (I never shop there b/c they're overpriced) yesterday, shopped off the sale rack (extra 40% off all sale items!), and bought 2 tops and 2 bottoms for a grand total of less than $57. Did I do plum good, miss??
So pretty! I have a good friend who is a Born fanatic like you are - I wonder if she knows they show up at Marshall's sometimes! And if it were me, I'd keep the slightly too small ones and try to stretch 'em out. I feel about Clarks shoes the way you feel about Borns, and picked up some similarly small ones at a thrift store once for $6 - no way I could pass that up! With a little bit of wearing them around the house with thick socks, they stretched out enough (gotta love leather) where I could wear them just fine. Good luck! =)
